WHAT IS DYSLEXIA AND WHY DOES IT DEVELOP?
Dyslexia is an umbrella term for reading and writing difficulties. Many areas of the brain are involved in the process of reading. Learning difficulties can be caused by abnormal cerebellar development, slow information processing and poor working memory.
However, research shows that the root cause of reading comprehension failure is mostly due to underdeveloped auditory processing skills. 80% of reading and language learning failures are caused by this single skill!
Auditory processing deficiency means that a child or adult hears well, but has difficulty filtering out human sounds and interpreting them as text. This processing difficulty can later lead to various learning disabilities. The reading disorder is called dyslexia, the disorder of interpreting numbers is called dyscalculia and the difficulties with writing are called dysgraphia.
HOW DOES THE DYSLEXIA TEST WORK?
As a parent, dyslexia testing may seem to be the most useful. Many people come to us with a diagnosis and request a more accurate dyslexia test, dysgraphia test or dyscalculia test. However, our aim is to find the cause. That’s why at our centre we use a complex cognitive ability test, the Gibson test, to identify the underlying problems behind learning difficulties. This means that our aim is not to diagnose the learning disability, but to find the causes. With the Gibson test, it is also possible to eliminate symptoms by assessing fluid skills and then using personalised brain training.
With us, you don’t have to spend hours filling out multiple dyslexia tests, dyscalculia tests, or dysgraphia tests! A single 40-50 minute complex Gibson test with interesting tasks is enough to identify the causes of your learning difficulties!
IS THERE AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO DYSLEXIA?
Neuroscience research shows that the brain can grow, change and develop throughout our lives. Basic skills can be strengthened throughout our lives! It is possible to develop dyslexia until it is asymptomatic!
Complex brain training is a way to treat dyslexia. The BrainRx and ReadRx programs at the GEM Learning Centre are used to develop cognitive processes in the brain. We work with a series of intensive exercises that stimulate the brain’s existing networks and encourage new connections.
